Type your ad copy and preview it in the Facebook / Instagram feed, Google search results and TikTok, with character counts compared against recommended lengths.
Text over the recommended length gets cut off or shortened. Text over the limit can't be published.
| Placement | Recommended | Max |
|---|---|---|
| Facebook / IG primary text | 125 | 2,200 |
| Facebook / IG headline | 40 | 255 |
| Facebook / IG description | 30 | 255 |
| Google Search headline | 30 | 30 |
| Google Search description | 90 | 90 |
| Google Search Path | 15 | 15 |
| TikTok ad text | 80 | 100 |
Thai vowels and tone marks also count as 1 character each, and this tool counts the same way to be safe. Where text is actually cut off depends on screen size, and platforms may change it.
* Previews are simulations for checking text length only. Actual appearance on each platform may differ slightly.
Write ad copy that fits, without key words getting cut off
An ad preview and character counter that shows how your copy will appear in the Facebook / Instagram feed, Google search results and TikTok videos, which parts are hidden behind "See more", and which fields exceed platform limits.
Short, to-the-point copy usually gets a better CTR
On mobile, roughly the first 125 characters show before being collapsed into "See more", so put your main selling point and offer in the first sentence and add details after. Long copy isn't always bad, as long as the first sentence makes people tap to read more.
It's a requirement of Responsive Search Ads: each headline can be up to 30 characters and each description up to 90. Google shows 2-3 of your headlines together in rotation, so each one should make sense on its own.
Most systems count upper and lower vowels and tone marks as characters too, so the word "น้ำ" (water) counts as 3. Thai text fills up faster than you'd expect, so always check before pasting it into the platform.
Use them together to cover every part of your marketing plan
